North Branford Recount is On
There will be a recount for the ninth seat on the Town Council, set to take place Sat. Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. at Town Hall.
The recount will determine if Democrats have in fact won the ninth seat on the council. If it comes out in the Republican's favor, it would take away the Democratic Party's comeback as Town Council majority.
Nov. 3 municipal election results show the Democrats won five Town Council seats last night. Voter support of Democratic candidates successfully toppled the Republican Party's two-term, six-seat Town Council majority.
The recount will determine if the ninth seat stays with Democrat Chris Manna, who had 1160 votes; or go to Republican challenger Shawna Pappa-Holzer, who tallied 1155 votes.
Pappa-Holzer had an option to decline the recount but contacted Town Clerk Lisa Valenti Wednesday afternoon to verify that she would not decline, said Valenti. The recount must take place within five days of Election Day.
