11/03/2015 11:00 PMEssex Library will be hosting a four-class series with Sarah Johnson, which will provide a gentle introduction to meditation, mindfulness, breathing techniques and body awareness, beginning Saturday Nov. 7.
Learning to meditate does not require sitting like a pretzel on a mountaintop or some other special ability, and compelling research continues to uncover its many benefits. From altering gene expression, to reshaping the brain, to helping calm the mind and nervous system, these practices are powerful tools for supporting health and finding more ease and wellbeing in life. Everything can be done in a chair as well as lying down, so the class is appropriate for people of varied physical conditions.
Bring a yoga or exercise mat, a blanket or towel, and wear loose, comfortable clothes. Sarah will be happy to answer your meditation questions. Saturdays, November 7, 14, 21 and December 5th at 1 p.m.
These four classes are free and open to the public, but registration is limited to 15 people. Please call the Library to register or for more information at (860) 767-1560. The Essex Library is located at 33 West Avenue in Essex.
