Republican incumbent First Selectman candidate James B. Cosgrove said this morning's slow to moderate response at Branford's voting places is quite a bit different from the 2013 municipal election; during which he won his first bid for the First Selectman's seat.

"I think traditionally municipal elections are a lower turnout -- 2013 was a high energy campaign on both sides, and that led to an increase in activity," said Cosgrove.

Asked if he felt the pace may be an indicator of how today's election results will pan out, Cosgrove told Zip06, "My sense is that people are satisfied with the direction we're headed in. But you can't be complacent. You make an effort to get out and vote when you want change; but we should also vote when you want to keep staying the course."

Cosgrove has been visiting the perimeters of Branford's seven district polling places today, as have many other Republican candidates on today's municipal election ballot. Polls are open until 8 p.m.
