Guilford Parks and Rec Hosts Fradiani Family Reception
Ever wonder what it’d be like to be thrust into the national spotlight? The Guilford community had plenty of opportunity to ponder that following Nick Fradiani, Jr.’s big win on American Idol this past season, and now the Guilford Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a reception for the Fradiani family to answer questions, discuss Nick’s success, and talk about their American Idol experience.
The event, which will be free and open to the public, has been in the works for some time, according to Guilford Parks & Recreation Director Rick Maynard.
“On the day of the Nick Fradiani, Jr., homecoming concert on the Green for American Idol, I spoke with Nick [Fradiani], Sr., about doing a reception for the family for them to discuss what the journey has been like for the entire family to have a son or brother to become famous,” he said.
Maynard said the family will also be asked about the experience leading up to Fradiani’s win.
“Why did Nick audition and how did the excitement build each week for him and for the family?” he said. “The family is expected to address this at the reception.”
Tony Fappiano of GCTV will conduct the interview with the family and audience members will be able to ask questions. There will also be refreshments after the interview.
Given the huge crowds that Fradiani has been drawing on tours across the country, Maynard also stressed that this is an event for the family and not Nick himself.
“I need to emphasize that it will not be a concert and Nick, Jr., will not be there,” he said.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7 in the Guilford Community Center.
