Business and Organization Updates
• The Connecticut Food Bank has recently appointed two senior level leaders. Mary Kate Carofano has been appointed chief development officer, and Paul Shipman was named marketing and communications director. The Connecticut Food Bank will transition to its new 84,000 square foot headquarters and distribution center in Wallingford in late fall. The new building will serve as the hub supporting more than 700 partners and programs as together they distribute more than 22 million pounds of nutritious food annually.
• NST Repair LLC recently signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer to serve the East Haven community. NST Repair at 187 Saltonstall Parkway will offer U-Haul trucks, towing equipment, support rental items, and in-store pick-up for boxes.
• Officer John Finnimore and K9 Max of the EHPD recently completed their handler/police dog training and are recent graduates of Superior K9 Services in New Milford. Max was selected for his clear head, work ethic, strong nerves, and sociability. He demonstrates talent for police patrol, tracking, and narcotics, and is very social.
• James V. Saccavino of East Haven has been elected to commander of the American Legion’s 2nd District, which includes most of New Haven County. He is presently at Post 48 in Guilford. Before that, he was commander of Post 187 Wallingford from 1992 to 2010.
Awards, Grants, and Recognition
• Connex Credit Union recently announced that Julianna Williams of East Haven has become its second, and largest, winner to date in its Save to Win program. Williams was one of only two quarterly winners in the state and took home a check worth $500.
• As business leaders and involved citizens in the East Haven area, Allstate agency owners Douglas Hughes and Kevin Millman have each been designated Allstate Premier Agencies for 2015.
