Tuttle Students Honor Sept. 11 Heroes

Tuttle School students have made a tradition of honoring Sept. 11, 2001 heroes.

On Friday, Sept. 11 the Tuttle School will honor the memory of the heroes responding to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and “celebrate the spirit that makes America a great country,” according to school officials.

At 10 a.m., Tuttle students will march to Town Hall with their American flags waving. At Town Hall, students will gather for a Pledge of Allegiance and patriotic song, followed by a welcoming speech from Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., student readings, and reflections by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Portia Bonner. The group will wrap the event with the singing of “America the Beautiful.”

Students are also asked bring a nonperishable item (diapers, water, canned foods, etc.) to be donated to the East Haven Food Pantry.
