08/27/2015 02:48 PMNorth Branford Superintendent of Schools Scott Schoonmaker made morning rounds at all four North Branford Public School buildings this morning, to be on-hand on as students in grades Pre-K - 12 arrived for the first day of the 2015-16 year.
Schoonmaker finished the morning outside the town's school for it's youngest students, Jerome Harrison Elementary School, where kids were guided in by school staff and faculty as each Dattco Bus Co. vehicle pulled up on schedule.
"I commend our faculty, staff and bus company for being so organized, professional and welcoming to our students coming back," Schoonmaker told Zip06. "It's a pleasure to stand back and watch."
Harrison Principal Dr. Carter Welch had a busy morning happily greeting students as each bus opened its doors. Also waiting on the sidewalk (for the eighth year in a row) to give a friendly hello to students and families was CT State Police Admin. Sergeant Brent Aiken. Sgt. Aiken is husband of Harrison second grade teacher Amiee Aiken.
