Awards, Grants, and Recognition
• The Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce was awarded first place in the 2014-2015 National Sales Contest for Total New Sales and Total Dollar Value by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. The QChamber has placed in the top three in both of these categories over the past five years.
• At a recent ceremony, Long Wharf Theatre bestowed its highest honor, the Founders Award, to Barbara L. Pearce, CEO and President of Pearce Real Estate and active patron of the arts in Greater New Haven. She is a marathon runner who lives in Guilford with her attorney husband, Norm Fleming. They have two grown children.
• Ava Colavolpe was the winner of Connex Credit Union’s recent National Credit Union Youth Month Piggy Bank Contest at the company’s North Haven branch. Youth members aged 15 and younger were eligible to guess the amount inside a piggy bank for a chance at winning it and its contents. The child who guessed correctly, or came closest without going over, was deemed the winner. National Credit Union Youth Month was developed by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) as a way for credit unions to connect with children and convey the importance of financial education and saving at a young age.
Business and Organization Updates
• Amy Salvati has recently joined Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New England Properties as a real estate sales executive. Salvati is a longtime resident of North Haven with more than 30 years of real estate experience and connected to many local organizations and fundraising affiliates.
• US Wealth Management recently welcomed Barbara Gode, who brings more than 20 years of accounting and finance experience at such firms as Ernst & Young, Aetna, Anthem BCBS, and United Illuminating. Most recently, she has engaged in various philanthropic endeavors working with charities both locally and nationally in support of global health and education. Barbara volunteers her time locally as a grief facilitator, offering personal and spiritual support to those suffering from either a traumatic event or loss.
• The Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce has appointed sales executive Gary Ciarleglio as business development executive for the Quinnipiac Chamber.
