06/30/2015 04:45 PMThe Ancient Order of Essex Weeders are back at work taking care of the traffic islands at the intersection of routes 153 and 154. The group consists of about 20 men, mostly retirees. They fertilize, weed, mulch, and plant more than 200 annuals to make this entrance to Essex beautiful. The Weeders work from 8 to 9 on Thursday mornings starting in April and going until October. They ask people to “please slow down when you see us.” The Essex Garden club provides the annuals and Bombaci Mulch donates the mulch. Private donations provide additional support.
