Are you ready for the 'Fest?

The Branford Festival takes over Branford's Town Green from Friday, June 19 through Sunday, June 21.

All are invited to join the celebration, fun, music, games, shopping and eating at the 31st anniversary of the Branford Festival. The three day event includes midway rides, delicious selections of food from a variety of vendors, live entertainment daily, and kids' midway. The festival opens at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19 (to 10:30 p.m.) and continues on Saturday, June 20 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday June 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Join Branford Festival's opening celebration on June 19 from 5 to 5:30 p.m. featuring the Branford Choral, Governor's Footguard, and the raising of the festival flag.

During each day and night of the festival, music on three different stages will fill the air. Friday features Branford High School choir (post-flag raising) followed by band Freelplay just ahead of the main event, Aerosmith tribute band Draw the Line from 8:45 to 11 p.m.). On Saturday, local band Common Ground takes the stage ahead of The Rubber Band featuring

American Idol finalist Erin Christine from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by Supernatural, billed as "the ultimate tribute to Santana," from (7:30 to 8:30 p.m.) and headliner China Grove, an "all star" Doobie Brothers tribute band.

Sunday's entertainment opens with the 33rd annual Branford Road Race at 10:15 a.m. and at noon, it's Southern rock Sunday featuring the music of Vintage Skynyrd (a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band) from noon to 2 p.m. Branford's Got Talent takes the stage from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Among the weekend's offerings is Saturday's Expo on the Green. A press release from the Branford Festival committee notes that more than 200 vendors will cover the Green on Saturday, June 20, selling their wares and services. "On this day, the event draws at least 4,000 participants. Everyone will find something of interest to look at, talk about or purchase," according to the release. "Several excellent food vendors are available, serving snacks to lunch [and] hot and cold drinks to ice cream and cakes."
