On May 7, a vehicle crashed into the side of a bridge on Summer Hill Road, just south of Route 80 in Madison, sending a slab of concrete into the creek below and forcing emergency repair of the bridge.
“Luckily, the fellow walked away,” said First Selectman Fillmore McPherson.
Emergency repair work to the bridge is underway. Traffic may be restricted to one lane at some points, but there is no plan for any road closure or detours while repairs take place. McPherson reported that the town is currently in talks with the driver’s insurance company.
