Madison Rotary Honors Students of the Year
Daniel Hand High School (DHHS), Polson School, and Brown School students, their family members, and teaching staff were honored by the Madison Rotary at the annual Student of the Year (SOTY) award ceremony recently. Students receiving the SOTY award were Meghan Wood of DHHS, Nicolette Doherty of Brown School, and Will Paturzo of Polson School. Plaques displayed the students’ names are on permanent display at their schools. Students of the Year were also recognized for their accomplishments in presentations from Rotary SOTY chairs Robert Friend and Alex Miele, their principals, teachers, Superintendent of Schools Thomas Scarice, and New Generations and Interact chair Arthur Criddle.
Madison Rotary past president Jim Satterwhite also presented the SOTY students with an engraved 4-Way Test Rotary memento coin. Each spring the Madison Rotary holds a 4-Way Test speaking contest at the high school where monetary awards are given out to first, second, and third place winners whose speech best exemplifies the tenets of the 4-Way Test, the moral code for personal and business relationships.
The fathers and educators were also presented with one of the coins and the mothers received a bouquet of flowers.
Madison Rotary meets at 8 a.m. on Thursdays at the Madison Senior Center on Bradley Road. For further information or to enjoy hearing a Rotary weekly guest speaker, contact any Rotarian or President Ed Pellegrino, or go to the website www.madisonctrotary.org.
