05/12/2015 02:00 PMFor the third year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada (GFOA) has awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Town of Westbrook for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
In announcing the award, the GFOA wrote that the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The GFOA also presented to Andrew Urban, director of finance for the Town of Westbrook, an award of financial reporting achievement as the individual deemed primarily responsible for preparing the award-wining CAFR.
The GFOA, with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., is a non-profit professional association serving about 17,500 government finance professionals.
