To maintain clearance depth and width for boats using the harbor entrance channel this summer, the Army Corps of Engineers’ dredger Currituck will return to Westbrook on or around Friday, May 15.
It will be engaged in dredging the channel for six days. The goal is to clear the eight-foot harbor entrance of sandy shoals that have accumulated since the last major harbor dredging. Funding and permits for the work are already secured.
Westbrook is the first stop for the Currituck this spring season.
