Following a 10,000-plus-strong celebration in his Guilford hometown on May 1, then-American Idol top 4 winner Nick Fradiani, Jr., posted this to his Facebook page: “That was without a doubt the best day of my life.” He may have revised that following tonight’s episode in which he moved on to the top 2 with fellow contestant Clark Beckham.

Fradiani learned the news at the beginning of tonight’s program. The final results will be announced tomorrow night.

His father, fellow performer Nick Fradiani, Sr., said after the May rally that he had confidence his son was ready to take the top prize.

“He’s ready; he’s a competitive kid,” said Fradiani, Sr. “No matter what happens from here out, he’s a winner, and I’m happy he had this moment in this beautiful town.”
