Branford Survey: Want Low Cost, Speedy "Community Mesh" Internet?
Press Release May 11, 2014: The Town of Branford is evaluating community interest in pursuing a project to build a municipal fiber network which will offer residents and businesses low cost internet speeds in excess of 1,000 mbps (or 1 gigabyte per second). In addition to the multitude of economic and educational reasons, the Town also envisions a community wide mesh network which will leverage communications for our public safety departments and will also offer high speed wireless connectivity throughout Branford.
Included in June’s motor vehicle tax bill, you will find a quick survey asking your opinion regarding this project. You may complete the survey and return it with your paid tax bill or complete the survey online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Branfordgig
The Town’s Director of Information Technology will be available to answer any questions and also have copies of the survey to complete on Saturday, June 20th at the Branford Festival on the Town green.
We believe in keeping our Town sustainable, economically competitive, along with continuing to offer the wonderfully unique shoreline quality of life it already has for future generations to come.
As more information becomes available, we will provide updates on the Town website and our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Town-of-Branford-GigabitProject/595988293871640
