04/30/2015 12:00 AMRobyn Collins, a 15-year veteran with Shore Publishing Newspapers, has been named publisher of the media group. The media group’s longtime former advertising director, Collins will take the post vacated by former publisher Lisa Miksis.
Collins has been a part of the Shore staff since the early days of the company. She started in the news department in 2000 as an associate editor, then moved to advertising as a sales rep a year later. She became the ad director in 2008.
“Fifteen years ago I showed up at Shore Publishing and was made an associate editor by then-founders and Publishers James Warner and Ryan Duques. After working through the departments and the ranks, it feels natural to me to step in as publisher after my dear friend and colleague, Lisa Miksis, took a new direction to work with her family company,” Collins said. “I know I have big shoes (stilettos in her case) to fill, and I’m honored to take the challenge.”
“She knows the market and all its movers and shakers,” said Gary Farrugia, publisher of The Day Publishing Company which owns Shore Publishing. “Robyn also has a high profile in the Shore Publishing community as a volunteer and board member of a number of public service groups. She was a clear choice to continue the growth and excellent leadership of Lisa Miksis.”
Collins said she’s looking forward to leading the colleagues she’s worked alongside for more than a decade.
“Shore Publishing and its employees are my family. We collaborate, we’re not afraid to tell each other how to improve an idea, and we are extremely hard workers. It is for these reasons that leading this group is a dream come true. I am excited for the days, weeks, months, and years to come,” Collins said. “Our industry is an evolving one, and I am so pleased that the community cherishes what we produce for them as much as we do. I promise to continue to help Shore Publishing evolve so that we can always help our shoreline to thrive, grow, and be the wonderful place that it is.”
Shore Publishing Newspapers, LLC, prints the weekly local papers The Source, The Sound, the Harbor News, the Guilford Courier, the East Haven Courier, the North Haven Courier, the Valley Courier, élan magazine, and many local magazines in addition to the regional news site Zip06.com.
