Olt Goes On the Disabled List
Mike Olt went on the 15-day disabled list for the first time in his Major League Baseball career on April 17. Olt suffered a hairline fracture in his right wrist and is expected to be in a cast for the next few weeks. The Branford native was injured when his Chicago Cubs played at the Colorado Rockies on April 11. Olt hit his 13th career MLB home run the third inning, but was then hit by a pitch from Rockies’ reliever Adam Ottavino in the ninth and forced to leave the game. Olt pinch hit and played third the next day and was slated to start the Cubs’ April 13 contest, although he was scratched from the lineup. Olt then pinch hit and saw time at third again the day after that before ultimately going on the DL. He has two hits, including the homer, on the young season.
