Following the announcement of The Fresh Market as an anchor tenant at the Guilford Commons shopping center, DDR Corp. has confirmed three additional tenants: Bed Bath & Beyond, Michaels, and DSW. Plans call for these retailers to lease spaces ranging from approximately 15,000 to 20,000 square feet each.
Guilford Commons remains on track for a fall 2015 opening.
"We are pleased to announce the addition of these best-in-class merchants that will provide enhanced retail options for Guilford-area shoppers," said Jim Grafmeyer, vice-president of Development with DDR. "We are in negotiations with additional retailers and restaurants to occupy space at Guilford Commons, and look forward to sharing updates as agreements are finalized."
Construction at Guilford Commons began in summer 2014. In addition to construction of the shopping center site, plans call for the widening of Route 1 with a dedicated turn lane, the addition of a traffic signal, the addition of a bus stop, and the widening of the 1-95 North off ramp.
"We are happy with the progress that is being made at Guilford Commons, and look forward to the economic development opportunities the shopping center will provide," said Guilford First Selectman Joe Mazza.
"In spite of our rough winter, we are happy to report that Guilford Commons continues to progress on schedule, as illustrated by the construction of exterior walls and improvements to surrounding roads," said Guilford Economic Development Coordinator Brian McGlone.
