Repaving—and Reconstruction—of Green Hill Road
Locals seeking to avoid summer traffic on Route 1 this summer may need to recalibrate their plans a bit. As soon as school lets out, Green Hill Road will be under construction.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation has approved grants of $1 and $2 million to fund the reconstruction of Green Hill Road, which is currently riddled with potholes and cracks.
The central reconstruction will be between Nortontown Road and Route 79. In conjunction with the repair, a sidewalk will be added to the south side between Polson Middle School/Daniel Hand High School and Copse Road.
The sections of Green Hill that bookend the central construction, west from Notontown Road to Route 1 and east from Route 79 to the Killingworth line, will be milled and repaved.
The project is scheduled to start June 22 and completion is planned by the start of the new school year. No road closures have been announced.
