01/04/2015 11:00 PMGather your kid gloves and good manners and come out to enjoy “Afternoon Tea at Downton Abbey” hosted by The Friends of Blackstone Library Sun. Jan. 18 beginning at 1 p.m.
Tickets, $30 per person ($20 for Friends members) are on sale now for the exquisite afternoon, which will feature a performance by Kandie Carle, also known as “The Victorian Lady.” Carle will be clad in proper Edwardian dress for the day and will explain the mysteries of the gracious style of dress, from “corset to glove,” said Friends president Helen Wong.
Guests are encouraged to wear their Edwardian best to the proper high tea which will feature finger sandwiches, desserts and prizes to follow Carle’s performance. The event is, of course, inspired by Downton Abbey, the award-winning, multi-season PBS television drama that tells the story of those living upstairs and downstairs in an early 20th century English country manor.
“Your presence is cordially requested at this fundraiser for the Friends of Library,” said Wong.
Proceeds from the tea benefit arts and culture programming at the library supported by The Friends of the Blackstone Library.
