Police Revive Bleeding, Injured Woman at Stony Creek Dock

Police responding to an apparent suicide attempt used CPR to save the life of a severely cut and bleeding woman found in a car early this morning at the town dock in Stony Creek. The woman's name was not released by police.

Police did share following information.

PRESS RELEASE NOV. 14, 2014: Three Branford Police Officers are credited with saving a woman’s life by using Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at about 4:30am this morning at the Stony Creek Town Dock. The Officers responded to a call from the woman’s boyfriend that she had tried to harm herself.

Officers Corrianne Dionne and Lue Sobieraj located the woman in her vehicle, bleeding from the neck and wrists. As Officers applied pressure to her wounds and updated responding Branford Paramedics the woman’s breathing slowly stopped and she became unresponsive. Once the Officers determined that the woman had no pulse, they began CPR with the assistance of Officer Jay Kaufman, who arrived on scene to help. After about twenty-five (25) seconds of CPR, the woman began breathing again.

Branford Paramedics arrived a short time later and continued to treat the woman for her injuries. She was later transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for further care and evaluation.

Chief Kevin Halloran said, “I am very proud of our Officers’ efforts. We rely heavily on the services that the Branford Fire Department Paramedics provide to our community and it isn’t very often that Branford Officers are required to initiate that type of emergency medical care.”
