CDR's Make Your Own Scarecrows Kicks Off Oct. 4
BRANFORD, CT SEPT. 22, 2014 – Mark your calendars, the Community Dining Room (CDR) will kick off its annual Make Your Own Scarecrow at Bishop’s Orchards on Saturday, October 4. The family event and fundraiser takes place every Saturday and Sunday in October as well as Columbus Day, Monday, October 13 and will run from 10-5 each day. The event will include glitter tattoos, face painting by Funderful Face Painting, and a free children’s snack with every scarecrow! All proceeds from scarecrows and glitter tattoos benefit the CDR, located in Branford, a not-for-profit organization currently serving approximately 4,500 meals per month to shoreline neighbors.
Look for the CDR’s scarecrow tent outside the red barn at Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market, 1355 Boston Post Road in Guilford, CT. Volunteers will collect a donation ($12 for each scarecrow or $22 for two), and supply all of the materials, from hay to hats, to stuff your scarecrow. Face painting will be $8 and glitter tattoos will be $5.
“Make Your Own Scarecrow is a terrific event for family members of all ages,” said Patricia Kral, Executive Director of the Community Dining Room. “Stop by Bishop’s Orchard’s to pick up your fall pumpkins and then stop by the Scarecrow tent.”
“It’s also an excellent way for students to support their community and earn community service hours,” added Kral. Students interested in volunteering should e-mail Kral at pkral@communitydiningroom.org.
