East Haven Man Arrested In Thefts Of Catalytic Converter
An East Haven man suspected in a string of catalytic converter thefts in and around Westport has been arrested.
Westport police say Clifford St. Arnault was seen driving a truck around 11:30 a.m. Thursday through several parking lots around the Saugatuck train station. Police stopped him and found he had several recently cut catalytic converters and a reciprocating saw, along with motorcycle parts and motor vehicle tire rims.
St. Arnault was taken into custody and charged with larceny and possession of burglary tools. Police say he is suspected in several other catalytic converter thefts. His bond was set at $5,000. Westport detectives are continuing the investigation with the help of surrounding departments.
