GUILFORD — On May 20th, fourteen delegates from Guilford and Branford will formally gather to nominate Sean Scanlon for State Representative in the 98th District (Guilford and Branford). Scanlon is running for the seat currently held by Rep. Pat Widlitz (D-Guilford). Widlitz announced her retirement in April and is supporting Scanlon.
Scanlon's convention will also serve as a formal campaign kickoff where he will announce an important campaign initiative.
"I decided to dedicate my life to public service and I'm proud of the years I've spent as both a Victim Advocate in the district attorney's office and as an aide to Senator Murphy which has prepared me to be an effective State Representative but, at the end of the day, this campaign is not about me it's about the people of Branford and Guilford," said Scanlon. "After knocking on nearly 1,000 doors in the first month of my campaign, I've heard two messages loud and clear: people are looking for fresh faces and perspectives in government and people are sick and tired of politicians from both parties fighting with one another instead of listening and accomplishing things. What I'll be announcing on Tuesday is a collaborative and citizen-driven effort to work together - Democrats, Republicans, and Independents - to roll up our sleeves and get things done in Hartford."
