New RTM Leadership Announced

PRESS RELEASE: Dennis Flanigan and Ray Ingraham announced Republican caucus

leadership and committee assignments today. Flanigan and Ingraham were selected by

their caucus unanimously last week to serve as Moderator and Majority Leader,

respectively, when the new RTM convenes tomorrow evening for its organizational

meeting.

Newly re-elected RTM member John Leonard will serve as Parliamentarian. A local

attorney, Leonard serves as vice-chair of the School Board of St. Mary Parish and

previously served as a Commissioner of Branford’s Housing Authority. He has also

served on Branford’s Board of Assessment Appeals, completing a four-year term. He

serves on Branford’s Economic Development Commission and represents the 5th

District in RTM. “I am honored to serve in this leadership capacity and look forward to

helping lead the RTM to common sense solutions to the challenges we face,” Leonard

said.

Ingraham noted Leonard’s active commitment to the community and his reputation for

fairness as two important reasons for his selection. “John is well-respected on both

sides of the aisle,” Ingraham noted. Flanigan agreed. “John is the kind of person who

brings people together and that will be an important key to success over the next two

years,” the soon-to-be Moderator noted.

Ingraham also released a list of committee assignments and chairmanships today in

advance of the organizational meeting. The new Chairs include, Anthony Alfone

(Administrative Services); Frank Twohill (Education); Robert Imperato (Public Services);

Rich Greenalch (Rules & Ordinances); and Peter Black (Ways & Means).

“Our chair decisions reflect a balance of experience and fresh perspectives,” Ingraham

stated. “We are focused assuring a smooth and effective transition so that we can hit

the ground running.”

The RTM will hold its organizational meeting Tuesday November 19, 2013 at 8 pm at

the Firehouse.
