11/03/2013 12:00 AMCHESTER -- The first steps in the town's Main Street Project are now underway. Kent & Frost, the design and engineering group hired by the town for this first phase -- reconstruction of Main Street from Laurel Hill Cemetery to Middlesex Avenue -- is conducting survey work along that 1,800-foot section of Main Street. The firm is collecting data for the preliminary design for the reconstruction of sidewalks, curbing, drainage and roadway pavement. This initial survey work is essential to ensure the coordination of the public roadway improvements with abutting private property. This design phase will extend through February 2014.
For additional information on this work, see theĀ Valley Courier article in Thursday's edition.
Informational meetings will be convened by the Main Street Project Committee for review of proposed design plans and information on the project's schedule. For additional information contact the First Selectman's Office, 860-526-0013.
