10/23/2013 12:00 AMAfter collecting heaps of Halloween candy this year, kids (or their parents) may want to consider participating in a Guilford dental team's first annual Halloween Candy Buy Back, and help send some of that sweet stuff to our troops overseas.
The event is organized by the Michael Dental Care professionals, who have teamed up with a national organization, Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude organizes and sends care packages to American military serving overseas.
Post-Halloween candy deliveries from local kids will be accepted for "buy back" at Michael Dental Care in Guilford on Monday,
Nov. 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. To sweeten the deal, for every pound of candy kids turn in, they will receive a raffle ticket for prizes, many of which have been donated by local merchants. Kids who bring a note or drawing expressing their thanks or encouragement to the military members will earn an extra raffle ticket. Everything collected will then be sent directly to Operation Gratitude, to add to care packages headed to our troops, explained Dr. Stacey Michael, D.M.D.
"What a great way to keep kid's teeth healthy while bringing a smile to the faces of our brave military members," she said. "It's also a nice way to teach our children about the importance of supporting our troops."
Michael and her husband, Dr. Vincent J. Michael, D.M.D., are part of the team at Michael Dental Care of Guilford.
Michael Dental Center is located at Guilford Gatehouse West, 2614 Boston Post Road, Guilford (private entrance at back of building). For candy buy back updates, call 203-453-0499 or visit them on Facebook or at www.michaeldentalcare.net.
