09/24/2013 12:00 AMPRESS RELEASE: On Sept. 26, Michael J. Fox is returning to television starring in his own sitcom for the first time in a decade. Together with hundreds of hosts across the country and
The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), Sept. 26 Premiere Parties are popping up in support of Michael and spreading awareness about Parkinson’s disease. One of those parties is being hosted by East Haven resident Gail Simon and being held locally at Doody’s Totoket Inn, 465 Foxon Road in North Branford on Thurs. Sept. 26 beginning at 5 p.m.
“All TV’s will support Michael’s optimism and help create awareness of living with Parkinson’s disease” said John Doody and his sister Sue, co-owners of Doody’s Totoket Inn located. “Our family is also affected by someone diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I was asked by Gail who signed up to host one of the Premiere Parties but then realized she doesn’t have a decent TV. We have several monitors and typically watch sports but we are excited to be one of the1855 Premiere Parties taking place across the country that night. We’ll change back to our regular sports games after the show.”
Simon’s goal is to raise $1,000.00 from now through the event to give to The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) for Parkinson’s Research.
“I chose to host a Premiere Party because I have always been a fan of Michael, my mother was also a fan and she had Parkinson‘s disease. It will be one year this month without her and it is also my birthday month. It seems to be a great way to honor her memory and I am so looking forward to watching The Michael J. Fox Show! I’m so happy that Doody’s is involved so now we are officially TEAM FOX DOODYS TOTOKET!” said Simon.
The event is Thursday, September 26th starting at 5pm until closing; with The Michael J. Fox Show starting at 9pm on NBC.
“Just come down, eat, hang out with friends, have fun or just come down and watch TV. Our quieter buffet room will also be a great place to watch the show.” said John Doody.
A “Raffle for Research” will take place with winners receiving a Team Fox T-shirt and Special Event Buttons will be available for a $5 donation donated by justbuttons.org of Branford. Donors who purchase one of the 200 buttons will have from October through December 31st to redeem it at Doody’s for a complimentary glass of house wine, draft or beverage when you order a dinner. Also available will be a “Smell Test Study Survey” for those aged 60 and older interested in becoming involved to help find a cure. Parkinson’s support group info will be available.
