09/20/2013 12:00 AMThe Planning Commission is asking town residents to help them update the town's Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan.
By clcking on the link on the Town's webpage, residents can access an on-line survey form. Through the answers residents provide, the Commission will re-examine and update the town's NHMP.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), requires that towns adopt and update their NHMP every 5 years to be eligible for planning and mitigation grants. The general purpose of the survey is to help measure public opinion and support for natural hazard mitigation actions and to collect comments and ideas on how we can better protect people and property from future hazards.
The surveys must be completed by October 1. Questions regarding the survey or progress on the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan should be directed to Meg Parulis, Town Planner at mparulis@westbrookct.us or 860-399-3047.
