08/26/2013 12:00 AMOn 08/23/13 Mr. Charles Magby Jr., 63, of Stepstone Hill Road in Guilford, turned himself in at the Guilford Police station after being notified that this agency held an arrest warrant for him.
Mr. Magby was arrested after several complaints were received of Magby offering to sell high-end custom instruments; violins, cello's, bows, and similar items on consignment. Magby then failed to provide the funds from the sale, or return of the consigned item, if not sold.
Mr. Magby has operated a fine violin and cello business in Guilford and New York City for several years.
The business is known as Fine Violins Ltd. Mr. Magby offers consignment sales, repairs and restorations on new and antique instruments. He operates the following website; http://www.fineviolinsltd.com/
This agency currently has several active investigations regarding Mr. Magby and his business. Mr. Magby operates his business both nationally and internationally. The value of the instruments in our cases range from $3,000 to in excess of $100,000
