Arrests in Salon Burglary, 'Open House' Thefts
On Aug. 23, Guilford Police made arrests in two cases, one involving an Old Saybrook woman suspected of stealing from homes during "Open House" periods in mulitple towns; and one involving a North Branford man suspected of a burglary reported at Urbane Salon in Guilford.
The following details were released by Guilford Police:
On Aug. 23, units responded to a suspicious activity complaint at 2489 Boston Post Road/Urbane Salon. Officers arrived to discover a burglary had taken place at the business.
Based on information gained from viewing the the salon video, as well as investigation by officers from Guilford and Branford Police Departments, Christopher Carboni, 21, of North Branford, was identified as a suspect.
Mr. Carboni was taken into custody at the Branford Motel, Branford, CT. Mr. Carboni was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Larceny 6th Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, and Criminal Attempt Burglary 3rd degree. He was held on a $10,000 bond pending arraignment in court Aug. 23.
August 23, 2013: On 08/23/13 an active arrest warrant was served on Ms. Angela Ruitto, 26, of Old Saybrook. Ms. Ruitto was arrested after a lengthy multi-agency investigation into thefts from homes that were for sale.
Ms. Ruitto is suspected of entering multiple homes during "Home Sale Open Houses" in multiple towns throughout Connecticut and New York State over the past several months.
Ms. Ruitto was charged with Larceny 3rd Degree. She was given a court date of 09/03/13. She was released on a Promise to Appear.
Ms. Ruitto was then taken into custody by the Glastonbury Police for a similar case in their town.
