08/08/2013 12:00 AMLocal vendors will get a bid preference in town purchasing if bid ordinance amendment the Board of Selectmen adopted are approved by Town Meeting this month.
For any contract of $1,000,000 or less, "any qualified town-based bidder which has submitted a bid within seven and one half percent of the low bid shall be awarded the bid provided that such town-based bidder agrees to accept the award of the bid at teh amount of the low bid."
The proposed town bidding ordinance changes are just one of eight items on the Call of a Town Meeting scheduled for Mon., Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Old Saybrook Middle School Auditorium.
