07/09/2013 12:00 AMWhen Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter volunteer Ken Engelman was profiled as a Sound Person of the Week in June,http://bit.ly/11zmxHI he announced he was organizing the first annual Woofstock on the Branford green.
The event will take place Sat. Aug. 24 from noon to 8 p.m. Due to a possible heat advisory, dogs and pets are not allowed; however pet owners and animal supporters shouldn't miss this opportunity to come together for a day of Peace, Love and Music, Woofstock-style.
The festival will feature live bands, family fun with children's activities and a Silent Auction. The band line up includes Downstairs Sally, Hubinger Street, Four Barrel Billy, Dizzy Fish and Caliber. There is no admission fee, all that is asked is a donation of any amount or of an item or items which can be used to assist the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, serving Brnaford and North Branford.
Areas will be set up on the green to collect donated supplies. As of July 5, the shelter especially needs kitten dry food, kitten canned food, cleaning supplies (paper towels, Clorox wipes, HE detergent and bleach). Also on the Dan Cosgrove Shelter's wish list: Natural Balance Green Pea formuals dry cat food chicken or duck (promotes hair regrowth); senior and weight management dry cat foods, Natural Balance limited ingredient dry dog food, pig ears/raw hide dog chews, non-scoop cat litter, rabbit bedding (Aspen), rabbit food, Timothy hay, baking soda, large 40 gallon garbage bags or small, soccer balls, basketballs and footballs (new or used) large and small dog beds, cat beds.
