Town Meeting Weighs Capital Maintenance Projects
Two school capital maintenance project, one at Goodwin Elementary School and one at Old Saybrook Middle School, s are the subject of a Town Meeting scheduled for Wed., June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
Long-planned but delayed is a project to replace the aging windows and doors at Goodwin Elementary School with new energy-efficient ones. The Town Meeting action proposed is to authorize the Board of Education to apply for a grant to offset the project's costs and to set up a nine-member building committee to oversee preparation of schematic drawings and specifications.
The second capital project is to replace the aging roof at the Old Saybrook Middle School. The proposed action by the Town Meeting would authorize the Board of Education to apply for a grant to offset the costs of the roof replacement, would name a building committee to plan the work and charge the group to prepare schematic drawings and specifications.
