Guilford Budget Referendum Today


Time to head to the polls to cast your vote on the town and education budgets! 

Polls opened this morning, April 9, at 7 a.m. and will close this evening at 8 p.m. 

Polling places are as follows: District One, Calvin Leete School; District Two, Baldwin Middle School; District Three, Guilford Fire Headquarters; District Four, Melissa Jones School; and District Five, Baldwin Middle School.

The Board of Education (BOE) budget totals $54,491,186, an increase of $1,577,294 or 2.98 percent over the current year. The town's proposed budget is $30,878,098, a 1.96 percent increase or $594,681 over the current year.

Bonding questions on the referendum include requests from the BOE totaling $1,623,677 for several projects including replacement of windows and doors at Cox, security upgrades at the schools, and other health and safety projects. The approved $5,991,000 town bonding request, which covers years 2014 and 2015 of the Five-Year Capital Plan, includes road elevation projects, upgrades to town property, and equipment purchases.
