North Haven Prepares for Earth Day Celebration
The North Haven Conservation Commission will hold its 5
th
annual North Haven Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Haven Middle School, 55 Bailey Road.
The event will feature a variety of exhibits and activities. Art and science projects, as well as posters, created by North Haven students will be on display. Clintonville Elementary School students will perform a skit at 10:30 a.m. Children’s folk singer Liz McNicholls will perform from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
There will be giveaways (including recycling bins, backpacks, and magnets). There will also be a scavenger hunt, for which the winner is awarded a Kindle Fire. Project Green high school students will host recycling games and face painting.
More than 30 local environmental and civic groups will have exhibits and demonstrations.
The North Haven Trail Association will hold a hike at 1 p.m. behind Target on Universal Drive. The Peter’s Rock Association will hold a separate hike at 2:30 p.m. at the park’s main entrance behind the First Fuel gas station on Middletown Avenue.
