03/22/2013 12:00 AMSuperstorms and snow days have caused a string of school closings and changes to the school calendar. A major result has been discussions about school vacations and, most important, the setting of a date for the Daniel Hand High School graduation. The Board of Education's Policy Committee this week said it woould approach the full board at its next meeting with the recommendation to set the commencement ceremony for June 21 "regardless of whether there are any other bad weather closings this spring."
Seth Klaskin, chair of the Policy Committee, added, "Not that the mandatory 180th day of instruction continues to fall on Tuesday, June 35 and that will continue to be the last day of school, which will be a half day."
See The Source edition on Thursday, March 28 for a full story on the committee's proposal.
