Branford Gun, Ammo Sales Hearings Set
Branford's new Firearms Sales Ad Hoc Committee has announced two public hearings will take place, March 14 and March 16, for citizens’ input on creating an ordinance restricting gun and ammunition sales in certain areas of Branford.
The hearings are Thurs. March. 14, 7 p.m. and Sat. March 16, 10 a.m.; at Branford Fire Headquarters, 45 North Main St.
Attending the committee's organizational meeting last week were representatives of two Branford businesses which sell firearms, including Mike Higgins and Brian Owens of TGS Outdoors, which opened on Main Street in February; and Tom Imperati of The Hunter’s Shop, a West Main Street shop which has been in business in Branford for 32 years; including a former location on Main Street (next to the current Bridal Trousseau building).
Imperati, Owens and Higgins invited committee members to visit their businesses.
“I think the four of you, to proceed, should take a look and see what it is you’re deciding on…and realize the people that come into our store are your everyday citizens,” said Higgins. “Come in, chat with us, and maybe have a little better understanding of what we’re all about. Your committee is about the whole town. There are an awful lot of people in town that enjoy the same sports that we do; and it should be about them, as well.”
