01/02/2013 11:00 PMOS Youth & Family Services will hold Courageous Parenting 101 Workshops on three Tuesdays in January 2013. The goal of the workshops is to help give parents the tools and reources to speak with their children about the dangers of substance use/abuse.
The Courage to Speak Foundation has developed an effective, evidence-based parent program called 'Courageous Parenting 101' where: Participants in the multi-session workshops will learn about: *Teen drug use trends and party culture *Drug and alcohol abuse, addiction and its physiological consequences *Protective, psychological and developmental guidance to help reduce the risk of substance use *Communication and listening strategies *Warnings signs *The power of denial *Practical steps if use/abuse is suspected *Sources of help and more....
The sessions are scheduled for (all Tuesdays)January 15, 22 and 29, 6:30-8:30p.m. Childcare available with prior registration, and light refreshments served. Registration forms are available on our website or in our office. Also available in each school office including St. John's, Central Office, and the library. Minimum attendees to hold class- 6.
