Sandy Recovery Update from Mayor Maturo


Mayor Maturo was in contact with Joe Thomas, UI’s Vice President of Client Fulfillment, first thing this morning to discuss the escalation of UI restoration efforts in East Haven. As of 3:30 pm the amount of customers without power has significantly dropped today from 36% to 13.5%, which is almost 2500 customers who had power returned;  restoration crews still actively working into the evening.

Mayor Maturo announced the curfew of the Mandatory Evacuation areas will remain in effect each evening from 7 pm until  7 am until Monday morning. The National Guard will remain in East Haven until 8 am on Saturday

The East Haven Emergency Shelter at East Haven High School will remain open for the weekend or until power is fully restored

The Town’s Emergency Operations Center will be open both Saturday and Sunday from approximately 7 am until 7 pm

The Landfill will be open Saturday from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm, for East Haven residents. No permits will be needed. Landfill will be closed on Sunday

East Haven Food Pantry will be open for distribution on Saturday from 11am until 1 pm; Donations of non-perishable food and monies (checks only) are encouraged. These donations can also be dropped off at Town Hall or the Hagaman Memorial Library during regular business hours
