Stormwater Awareness Program Continues

As part of the Stormwater Awareness and Related Activities Program, the town of North Haven will mark storm drains during the week of Oct. 29. The effort is being done in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) MS4 Stormwater Best Management Program (BMP). Storm drains will be marked throughout Allendale Drive, Marlen Drive, Rose Lane, and Sherwood Drive. North Haven Public Works employees will place catch basin markers with the statement: “No Dumping, Drains to Stream.”

“Regardless of the condition of a receiving stream or water body, these markings can raise awareness throughout our town about the connection between storm drains and receiving waters and can help to deter littering, excess fertilizer use, illegal dumping, and other practices that contribute to stormwater pollution,” First Selectman Michael Freda said in a statement.
