School Closings

The fastest way to learn if school is canceled, delayed, or will close early is to visit the Madison Public School’s website: www.madison.k12.ct.us, sign up for eNotify and/or text messages, or view Channel 19 - Madison Public Access TV.

Delayed Opening

For safety reasons, schools may open 90 minutes late, and all operations including school bus transportation are delayed by 90 minutes from the regular schedule. In such situations, morning kindergarten will be canceled and the afternoon kindergarten program will begin at the regular time. The Beach and Recreation’s Before School Program follows the school district’s delayed opening schedule.

When school is delayed the district will send an eNotify message, a text message and post the delay information on the district and school homepages.

Early Closing

In the event of an early school closing, the school district will send an eNotify message, text message, post the information on the district and school homepages and send an automated phone message. Please make sure that the schools have your correct telephone number on file. Early school closing announcements will be made by 10 a.m. After school and evening activities are canceled on days when school is closed early due to inclement weather. The Beach & Recreation Department’s After School Program is also canceled when schools are closed early.
