Carr Charged with Larceny in Petition Removal
Maurice “Kirk” Carr, 66, of Clinton was arrested this morning on an outstanding arrest warrant and charged with unlawful removal of records and sixth-degree larceny. The charges stem from Carr’s alleged June 20 removal of a petition signed by 450 supporters of the new Morgan School.
Carr is the treasurer of the Clinton Taxpayers Association, which had filed an earlier petition seeking to overthrow the New Morgan School referendum (see related stories at right).
According to the Clinton Police Department, Carr turned himself in, was advised of his rights, and processed. He was released on a written promise to appear and he is scheduled to appear before the Middletown Superior Court on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m.
