An Italian Celebration for Everyone
The eighth annual Italian Festival of Angels is this weekend-Friday, Aug. 17 from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 18 from noon to 10 p.m. on the grounds of St. Therese Church at 555 Middletown Avenue in North Haven. Admission is $2 with free parking. The festival, organized by the North Haven Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge #2805, combines summer festival fun with an Italian cultural celebration. Attendees will find entertainment on stage as well as demonstrations such as Italian cooking and a culture tent featuring 175 new culture displays. This year, organizers will also keep a dedicated kids' area open throughout the festival.
Other highlights include a performance by North Haven's own American Idol contestant Gabi Carrubba and the Procession of Angels at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday-kids will also be treated to a puppet show after the procession at 1:15 p.m. Last but never least, there will also be plenty of Italian food. Among the offerings will be fried dough, fried calamari, sausage and peppers, Italian ice, Italian pastry, muffuletta sandwiches, meatballs, pizza, and stuffed breads, as well as hamburgers, hot dogs, fried Oreos, and French fries.
