It’s Official: Hobby Lobby Coming to East Haven
East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., confirmed that craft store Hobby Lobby will soon be a new tenant in town. The store will take the space formerly occupied by Home Goods, which moved out of its Frontage Road space earlier this year.
“It’s going to be a great asset for the community,” said Maturo, who said the store will hire local workers.
Maturo noted that Hobby Lobby will take more of the building than Home Goods, which means it will use space now occupied by the town’s Teen Center. However, Maturo said that the Teen Center will relocate to the old high school building at 200 Tyler Street.
“I’m looking for a long-lasting relationship” between Hobby Lobby and the town, said Maturo. The store “gives residents another place to shop” and helps provide some property tax relief, he added.
Maturo said he didn’t know an official date when Hobby Lobby will open, but said the company is eager to open the store soon.
