08/08/2012 09:00 AMA family’s worst nightmare hit home on Monday night after a 2½ year-old toddler apparently fell from construction equipment on family property in Branford and later died of his injuries. The boy was reportedly on a bulldozer with his grandfather present when he fell.
Police and fire department first responders responded to the scene at residential property on Laurel Hill Road, where the youngster was transported for what were termed life-threatening injuries to his head and face, according to police. The emergency call came in at approximately 5:30 p.m. The child succumbed to the injuries Monday night. The state medical examiner’s office confirmed a blunt head injury as cause of death on Tuesday.
A police representative confirmed on Wednesday morning that, per police protocol, detectives are continuing to follow-up with an investigation of the death.
