Principal Named for Jeffrey School
Thomas R. Scarice, superintendent of Madison Public Schools, announce on Friday that a principal has been named for J. Milton Jeffrey Elementary School. Kathryn E. Hart has been appointed to the position by the Madison Board of Education, effective July 30, 2012.
Hart has served the Madison Public Schools for 16 years in various roles. Hart was originally hired by the district in 1996 as a Grade 5 teacher at the Jeffrey School where she also served as Mathematics Specialist. In 2006, she was appointed to the position of Assistant Principal at the Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School.
Hart received a Bachelor of Science degree from Connecticut College, a Master of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University, a 6th Year Diploma in Educational Leadership, K-12 and Administrator Certificate from Southern Connecticut State University. In addition to her current position as Assistant Principal of the Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School, Hart is the immediate past president of the Associated Teachers of Mathematics in Connecticut (ATOMIC), has served on many Madison Public Schools councils and committees, has chaired the Minds in Motion in Madison events, and has been recognized through the establishment of a Madison Foundation grant for her work with special education students.
