Budget Update: No Update

Following the failure at referendum on May 9 of Clinton’s 5.32 percent town spending increase, the Board of Selectmen held the second of two scheduled public hearings on May 16 at the Town Hall, with about 20 residents weighing in on the $150,000 reductions approved by the Board of Finance.

As of last night, no alterations were made to the town budget, which is now proposed at $14,898,814, a $610,029 or 4.27 percent increase over current spending.

A second referendum will be held in the Town Hall’s Green Room on Wednesday, May 23 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The passed education budget is $31,309,290, which represents a 0.55 percent increase or $171,984 over this year.
