Opening Day is Almost Here

What's better than a parade? How about a parade that celebrates 60 years of youth baseball in Madison? Madison Little League invites players and the public to its 60th anniversary parade on Saturday, April 28.

Players should assemble in full uniform at Stop & Shop by 10:30 a.m. for the parade; team names will be marked on the sidewalk outside the store. A live band will be leading the teams to Jaycees Field, where a silent auction will feature items including gift baskets, free haircuts, golf lessons, framed artwork, baseline concussion test, chemistry tutoring session, gift cards, massage therapy, and batting cages just to name a few (tickets can be purchased at Stop & Shop to avoid lines. The event also features lots of food options and a police radar machine to test fast ball speed. Opening Day is sponsored this year by Hammonasset Ford.

Bring non-perishable food item to donate to the Madison Home Plate Food Drive—drop items at the Pavilion at Stop & Shop before the parade. Parking may be a challenge at Jaycee Field, so Madison Little League suggests attendees consider parking downtown or at the train station.www.madisonctbaseball.com.
